On November 13, 2022, the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) hosted the world’s most prestigious Conference on Biofilms in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. This academic summit is convened once every three years and typically attracts approximately 400 participants from academia, industry, government regulatory agencies, and funding organizations.

Sharklet was honored to be one of the five sponsoring partners invited by the ASM board to attend this prestigious conference. Sharklet has had the privilege of being designated as a sponsoring partner for the third consecutive proceeding of this conference.

Biofilms are closely related to industry, medicine, and the natural environment. The Conference on Biofilms provides an interdisciplinary high-level communication platform for researchers to discuss the latest developments in the field of biofilms.

Sharklet’s ability to be designated as a sponsoring partner of the conference for ten years fully demonstrates the power of the Sharklet technology and its academic status recognized by international authorities. This is also the result of Sharklet’s unremitting efforts for human health for more than 20 years.

Sharklet has a robust foundation in research achievements and technology in the fields of microbiology and healthcare, boasting over 20 patented inventions and a substantial body of high-impact academic publications. Sharklet has also independently established the world’s only international validation standard for assessing microbial surface contact transmission (ASTM E3285-22). Medical catheters utilizing the Sharklet® physical antimicrobial technology have also received FDA510(K) clearance and CE certification. Several other products utilizing the Sharklet® physical antimicrobial technology have obtained EPA certification.

Sharklet’s technology has many applications in hospital infection prevention and control.  Sharklet is currently developing nitrile gloves incorporating the Sharklet® physical antimicrobial technology, for which the industrial production line pilot run has been completed. The Sharklet gloves are free of chemical additives and demonstrate high efficacy in combating both bacteria and viruses. They provide real-time prevention of spread of pathogenic microorganisms between the gloves, the human body, and surfaces, significantly reducing the risk of disease transmission. Sharklet is committed to using cutting-edge innovative technologies to upgrade traditional medical products and provide safe and effective high-tech protective products for doctors and patients.
