From November 14th to 17th, 2022, The 54th MEDICA medical exhibition was held in Düsseldorf, Germany. It is the largest and most influential hospital and medical equipment exhibition globally. This event attracted participation from over 5,000 companies representing nearly 70 countries and drew tens of thousands of healthcare professionals from around the world.

As a leader in the antimicrobial field, Sharklet Technologies, Inc. continues its partnership with Well Lead Medical, showcasing core products like nitrile gloves utilizing the Sharklet physical antimicrobial technology.

In clinical medicine, infection control is a critical issue. Despite ongoing advancements in medicine, hospital acquired infections (HAIs) remain a major concern for healthcare facilities worldwide. Reducing hospital acquired infections is of significant importance for human health and safety. Gloves are the simplest and most effective measure to prevent hospital-acquired infections, but conventional medical gloves have limitations in mitigating the risk of cross-contamination of pathogens between healthcare providers and patients.

Based on over two decades of research into hospital infection control, Sharklet has developed a variety of medical products such as medical catheters and protective gloves. Among them, Sharklet’s nitrile gloves incorporating the Sharklet physical antimicrobial technology have made significant breakthroughs: achieving mass production without altering the glove manufacturing process, thus maximizing the protection of healthcare professionals and patients’ safety.

The nitrile protective gloves utilize the patented Sharklet technology. They are chemical additive-free and achieve highly effective antibacterial and antiviral properties solely through the use of micropattern. Tested according to ASTM standards (E3285-22), the results show a 96.7% inhibition rate against Staphylococcus aureus contamination and a 91.8% inhibition rate against Escherichia coli contamination.

Sharklet® nitrile gloves also effectively reduce contact transmission of bacteria and viruses between the gloves and surfaces. They not only protect the wearer but also block microbial contamination caused by the gloves, significantly reducing the risk of transmission.

After over two decades of research and development, Sharklet has become the only globally available mass-produced physical antimicrobial technology. The Sharklet products have undergone rigorous testing in multiple authoritative laboratories and have obtained international standards and certifications. Sharklet has never ceased to uphold its commitment to “Improving human health, with a natural solution”.
