Sharklet Products
The Sharklet pattern represents a paradigm shift in microorganism management. Unlike anything in the market today, Sharklet is the world’s first and only non-toxic, biocide-free and no-kill surface pattern used to inhibit bacterial attachment, survival, migration and touch-transference.
Sharklet is a patented surface technology comprised of individual microscopic features arranged in distinct diamond shapes to form a continuous micropattern. Each Sharklet diamond features seven bars of varied size that shares a feature with an adjoining Sharklet diamond. Each diamond measures 22 microns wide (left to right), 16 microns tall (top to bottom) and just a few microns in height.
When manufactured into surfaces of products, the pattern cannot be detected with the naked eye or felt to the touch. For reference purposes, each Sharklet diamond is about 1/5th the width of an average human hair.
When applied to the surface of a product including:
- Sharklet reduces bacterial attachment
- Sharklet reduces bacterial survival
- Sharklet inhibits transfer of bacteria from the Sharklet-textured surface to hands
- The Sharklet texture reduces the ability for bacteria to migrate as occurs on medical devices
Applications for the Sharklet micro-texture:
Create Cleaner Surfaces with Sharklet Surface Protection Products
Put a safe zone between people and bacteria. Sharklet-patterned film-based skins are applied to high-touch areas to reduce surface-to-person transfer of bacteria.
Enhance Medical Devices with the Sharklet Texture
Sharklet Technologies integrates the Sharklet pattern into the surfaces of medical devices to reduce bacterial colonization and migration.
OEMs Find a New Approach with the Sharklet Texture
Leading companies choose the Sharklet pattern for the surfaces of their products to create chemistry-free bacterial inhibition.
More About Sharklet
Sharklet-textured surfaces are not designed to replace current cleaning and sanitizing processes and procedures. Sharklet-textured surfaces help reduce levels of certain bacterial on environmental surfaces in between regular cleanings.
Use of the Sharklet micro-texture is a supplement to and not a substitute for standard infection control practices. While the Sharklet technology has shown to reduce bacterial loads on surfaces between cleanings, users must continue to follow all current infection control practices including those related to cleaning and disinfection of surfaces.
The Sharklet micro-texture technology:
- Offers bacterial inhibition via a 100% natural process
- Is non-toxic and free of any biocides, antimicrobial and antibiotics
- Is safe for people
- Is non-leaching or consumable
- Does not require EPA or Health Canada registration –Sharklet is not a pesticide
