The Company
Sharklet Technologies, Inc. is a biotechnology company that develops and brings to market surface technologies that manage microorganism growth to make the world a healthier, environmentally safer and better place.
The company’s core technology, called Sharklet™, is the first no-kill, non-toxic and environmentally-friendly surface designed to inhibit bacterial growth including MRSA, E. coli, Staph a., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, VRE and a host of other bacteria. The Sharklet surface is comprised of millions of microscopic diamonds that are arranged in a distinct shape. It is this shape that bacteria find inhospitable for growth.
Inspired by the microbe-resistant properties of shark skin, Sharklet is a simple solution for a complex problem. Sharklet™ SafeTouch may be applied to any germ-prone surface via adhesive-backed films, or skins, where people seek to reduce bacteria. These skins are ideal for hospital surfaces, public restrooms, childcare facilities and other bacteria-prone places where it is desirable to inhibit the survival, transfer and migration of bacteria. The Sharklet pattern may also be manufactured directly into the surfaces of products including medical devices. The company is currently developing a Sharklet™ Urinary Catheter to help reduce the incidence of catheter-associated urinary tract infections, one of the leading causes of hospital-acquired infections.
The company is headquartered at the prestigious Sid Martin Biotechnology Incubator in Alachua, Fla., the top U.S. biotech business incubator that is internationally recognized as a pioneer in bio-business development.
